Before the launch of the new iPad, people tend to use a tweak from Cydia called ‘RetinaPad’ which doesn’t allow iPhone apps to get pixelated when opened in 2x mode. In fact, it was one of the reason for many people out there to JailBreak their iPad. As noted by the member of an Arcade forum, the new iPad automatically does that for you. Even if an iPhone application is stretched on iPad, the retina display effect would remain intact.
While playing ‘NBA Jam’ on new iPad, the user noticed the difference. The graphics still looked spectacular, like in the same way they used to be on iPad 1 when RetinaPad was installed. In future, this might lead to an end of the RetinaPad tweak. But as soon as the previous generation iPad exists, it would be one of the most important utility from Ryan Petrich. The user experienced something similar with other games such as Cut The Rope (iPhone version) that had Retina assets even on 2x mode.To tell you the exact difference, there’s an image in the post. On the left, we have ‘cut the rope’ iPhone version running on an iPad 2 in stretched mode. Whereas, on the left hand side, the same version is opened on the new iPad. You can now yourself spot the retina optimization, without the need of any tweak. However, it may happen in future that RetinaPad offer more features which Apple has missed out with the support. Let’s know your thoughts in the comment section.
